Monza defender Armando Izzo has been handed a five-year-long prison sentence for his involvement in the Calcioscommesse scandal.

ANSA have reported that Izzo was involved in the betting scandal case from his time back in Serie B with Avellino for a game in the 2013/14 campaign. Izzo’s cousin Umberto Accurso was also involved in the case and he has also been sentenced as part of the decision.

Izzo has been sentenced to five years in prison by the criminal section of the Court of Naples for external association in the case. His cousin Accurso has been handed a sentence of 1.5 years and the same applies for Salvatore Russo, who is also linked to the duo.

Izzo previously plied his trade with Torino and joined Monza on a loan deal last summer, with his deal at the Biancorossi expiring in the summer. He had spent two years at Avellino after having left Napoli.
