England have booked their place in the Euro 2020 final with a tense extra-time win over Denmark in London.
And our Man of the Match was âŠ
He may have ended up in the losing side but the Denmark goalkeeperâs performance was head and shoulders above anyone else on the field.
After goading England good-naturedly in the media beforehand, he knew heâd be a target but the Leicester man was equal to everything.
His second half fingertip stop (emphasis very much on fingertip) to prevent a Harry Maguire header squirming into the corner will go down as one of the saves of the summer.
His low right-hand save to keep Harry Kane out in extra-time was also outstanding and his all-round command of the area was extremely impressive throughout.
Even Englandâs controversial winner came from a rebound following a penalty that Schmeichel had saved!
In total, he ended the game with nine saves and you really couldnât help but feel for him.
Had Denmark gotten it to penalties, you can be sure heâd have relished the moment in attempting to follow in his fatherâs Euro â92 footsteps.
