Former Inter and Roma boss José Mourinho admits he didn’t understand the potential of Dani Carvajal at Real Madrid, although he gave senior debuts to ‘kids’ Alvaro Morata and Nacho and says ‘the best team’ won the EURO 2024 Final.

Ex-Roma coach Mourinho reacted to Spain winning the Euros with a social media message on Monday morning.

“2024/Champions League winner captain Nacho Fernandez/European Champion winner captain Alvaro Morata Many congratulations to them and to the coach who gave them their debut when they were just kids in the Academy,” wrote the Special One, adding pictures of his time at Madrid with Morata and Nacho.

Nevertheless, he added that he’s the “Same coach who did not understand that Dani Carvajal was another one.”

“Many congratulations to Mister De La Fuente for an amazing job. Best team won,” concluded the former Giallorossi boss.

Reports in Italy claim Morata will soon return to Serie A, undergoing his medical with Milan this week.
