Real Betis star Nabil Fekir moved to reveal his appreciation for teammate Isco, on the back of the club’s latest outing.
Betis, of course, marked their return to action on Friday night.
After a week off owing to the scheduling of the Copa del Rey final, the Verdiblancos kicked the final stretch of the La Liga campaign into gear, in a meeting with Celta Vigo at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
Manuel Pellegrini’s hosts headed into proceedings absolutely desperate for a bounce-back result, fresh off an alarming run of four successive defeats.
And, when all was said and done, get things back on track is precisely what Betis managed.
After Juan Miranda opened the scoring early in the 2nd-half, the aforementioned Nabil Fekir doubled the hosts’ advantage inside the closing ten minutes, ensuring that Jørgen Strand Larsen’s injury-time strike proved to be little more than a Celta Vigo consolation.
Post-match, the decisive Fekir, in turn, was drawn on his contribution off the bench on Friday night.
“I always try to shoot and score and today it turned out well,” the Frenchman began, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “It always gives you a lot of confidence to score goals, but the most important thing is the victory of the team and in front of the fans.”
From here, Fekir was then keen to single teammate Isco out for special praise, hailing the former Real Madrid man’s “spectacular pass” to lay on Betis’ 2nd of the night.
The Verdiblancos’ victory over Celta has seen them leapfrog Valencia back into 7th in the La Liga table.
