Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce was grateful to the traveling support for their 3-2 win at Doncaster Rovers.
Bruce his players were backed from the first whistle at the Keepmoat Stadium with fans rewarded with a 3-2 win over Rovers.
For a clutch of players it was their first big experience of playing in front of supporters.
Bruce said: “Callum Wilson's never played in front of them before – this is his first time.
“You think of last year, and how absolutely rotten it was.
"A big well done to them – 3,300.
"The one thing we can never, ever do with them is take them for granted.
"They're an unbelievable, unique support.
"Not many clubs will have that kind of support for a pre-season friendly. Unbelievable."
