Two months into 2025, FC Barcelona are already planning their squad for the next season, and one of the areas that they are looking to strengthen is that of the attack.
There are several players that the Catalans are monitoring for this purpose, with the Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak featuring prominently in their plans.
In this regard, a report from SPORT claims that the Swede himself is looking to take the next step in his career, and Newcastle United will also be willing to allow him to leave, but only if an offer comes that fairly reflects the forward’s market value. Thus, any team looking to sign the €75m-rated Swedish international will have to pay around €100 million.
For Barcelona, Isak is the ideal candidate to reinforce their attack going forward, as he plays generally as a centre-forward, but can also shift to the left wing. But as things stand, they cannot afford to pay €100 million for him and will have to undertake a major sale to be able to sign him.
But even then, they will have to compete with other major European sides like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal for his signing. Furthermore, another variable that can block his move away from Newcastle is the Premier League team’s qualification to the UEFA Champions League, as in that case, they will want to have their most important forward present in the squad.
Meanwhile, if Isak ends up joining Liverpool, it can open up the way for Barcelona to land another of their targets, Luis Diaz, as the Merseyside club will then be more open to letting him leave.
The Blaugranes will still need to generate a significant amount of money to be able to land the Colombian, but Joan Laporta is counting on him to reduce his wages to play for his dream club.
