OGC Nice manager Francesco Farioli has confirmed that Sofiane Diop (23) will be out for several weeks after suffering a metatarsal fracture.

The Moroccan international was injured during Sunday’s victory over Toulouse FC. He suffered the injury in the 39th minute and despite continuing until the break, he was replaced by Alexis Claude-Maurice in the second half. Speaking post-match, Francesco Farioli said that he feared the worst.

Jean-Clair Todibo to return

Speaking in a press conference attended by Get French Football News on Thursday, Farioli confirmed that Diop faces a spell on the sidelines and won’t return before 2024. “He will likely miss at least six weeks of competition,” confirmed Farioli, who confirmed that the winger was suffering from a fracture of the third metatarsal. It has not yet been decided whether surgery will be required with the club waiting for the swelling to subside.

There was better news from the medical table at Nice on Thursday. Jean-Clair Todibo was injured whilst on international duty with France and was rested as a precaution against Toulouse, however, Farioli confirmed that the centre-back will return against FC Nantes on Saturday.
