The Dane was appointed by the Championship side earlier this summer following the departure of David Wagner.

Wagner guided the Canaries to sixth in the table but missed out on Premier League promotion with a play-off semi-final loss to Leeds United.

Hoff Thorup has arrived at Norwich from Nordsjaelland, where he spent just one season as the manager after two years as an assistant at the club.

The 35-year-old oversaw 34 wins from 67 games in charge, and will now be looking to lead the Norfolk outfit back to the Premier League in just his second role as a manager.

The summer transfer window will be key to Norwich’s promotion ambition, especially with key players attracting interest from elsewhere.

Here we look at two players who the club should do everything to keep ahead of the upcoming campaign…

Josh Sargent

Josh Sargent suffered a major injury issue last season but was one of the team’s most important players when available.

The US international scored 16 goals from 26 appearances in the second division, proving pivotal to their play-off qualification (all stats from Fbref).

However, the 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Carrow Road this summer, with Leeds in particular mentioned as a potential next destination.

But Norwich must avoid cashing in on the forward, especially to a potential promotion rival.

Letting the Irishman go back to Scotland, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, would be a far more sensible move, especially if the club’s £8 million asking price is met.

It should have to take a huge money offer for the Canaries to be convinced to let Sargent go as well.

The American’s contract runs until the summer of 2028, meaning the second-tier club have a strong negotiating position should interest arrive.

Jon Rowe

Another player that will be key to the club’s promotion push next season will be Jon Rowe.

The winger emerged from the academy system under Wagner and cemented himself as a crucial part of the first team squad.

The 21-year-old contributed 12 goals and two assists from 32 appearances in a breakout campaign last year.

It’s been reported that Wolves are the latest club to show an interest in the forward, with Norwich having batted away January speculation over his future.

A move to the Premier League would be appealing for Rowe, but Norwich must do everything they can to hold onto him for at least another year.

The youngster has a contract with Norwich until 2025, with the option for a further year, so there is no immediate need to cash in.

Signing a new deal this year would be a huge boost for the Canaries’ ability to keep the player long-term, but regardless they should be looking to stave off any advances this summer.

It should have to take quite a sizable fee to convince them otherwise, potentially in excess of £20 million.
