Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of centre-back Willy Boly from Wolves, making him the 20th new first-team addition of the summer transfer window.

Boly has arrived at the City Ground on a permanent deal after five years at Molineux.

He already has four seasons of invaluable Premier League experience under his belt and was among the league’s most impressive centre-backs in 2018/19 when Wolves were newly promoted.

Even though Wolves have released Romain Saiss since the end of last season and also allowed Conor Coady to join Everton on loan, Bruno Lage has favoured a centre-back pairing of Max Kilman and £20.5m new signing Nathan Collins in recent weeks. Boly hasn’t got off the bench.

Forest brought in centre-back Moussa Niakhate from Mainz in July but have already lost the Frenchman to injury for the next ‘couple of months’.

Forest boss Steve Cooper started with a back three of Cheikhou Kouyate, Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna in the midweek defeat to Manchester City.
