SC Paderborn 07 have confirmed that forward Max Kruse has left the club after the two came to a mutual agreement to terminate the 35-year-old’s contract.
Sporting director Benjamin Weber said: “Both sides imagined the sporting development differently. Max was on a very good track but was slowed down by the injury. Because the current situation was not satisfactory for us and for the player, we broke up. During his time in Paderborn, Max has always behaved in an exemplary manner. We wish him all the best for the future.”
Kruse has been known to be an eccentric individual and this brief period at Paderborn has proven this once again. The 35-year-old spent more time clueless (seven months) than at Paderborn (five months)
After joining Paderborn in the summer after leaving Wolfsburg a year ago, Kruse only played five games for the 2.Bundesliga team without scoring a goal. Whether the 35-year-old will continue playing is yet to be known as he has shown that he does not really offer a lot to a team anymore on the attacking front. While his lack of game time has been primarily due to his constant absence due to injury which will also deter a team from taking a chance on the former Union Berlin forward.
Paderborn will not miss Kruse as they currently sit 11th in the 2.Bundesliga and plays Elversberg on Saturday.
