Amine Harit has joined Olympique Marseille on a permanent basis after a season-long loan from Schalke 04, the club have confirmed.

Harit has been on loan for the best part of two years now. Last season’s loan included an obligation-to-buy clause which has been triggered.

The deal will be a relief to the now 2. Bundesliga side. The midfielder was one of the biggest earners at S04. The Royal Blues will be grateful that the Moroccan international is finally off the wage bill as wages are already stretched.

The 26-year-old moved to Schalke in 2017 moving from FC Nantes. In total, Harit made over 100 appearances for the club, all in the top flight. The midfielder was involved in 30 goals during his time in Gelsenkirchen and also represented the team in the Champions League.

Schalke are currently building up for another season in the 2. Bundesliga following relegation from the top flight in their first season back. S04 kick-off the second division season on Friday 28th July against fellow promotion favourites, Hamburger SV.
