As reported by Foot Mercato, despite various disagreements between OGC Nice coach Lucien Favre and director Iain Moody over summer recruitment, the pair have arrived at a consensus over their preferred left-back target.
Atlético Madrid defender Renan Lodi is one of few players both men agree on targeting this summer as the club look for a player to compete with, and probably replace, Melvin Bard. The two clubs even agreed a €4m loan fee but the 24-year-old Brazilian defender’s wages proved to high for Nice to match.
Former Real Madrid defender Marcelo is also seen as an option by the club while Parma defender Giuseppe Pezzella has been mentioned too but while Favre had given the green light to his signing, Moody is against it. Such a situation has become common in a slow window for Nice as, for example, Favre was against the signing of former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey but Moody pushed the deal through regardless.
