The Blues returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez.

The win meant Enzo Maresca’s men stayed third in the league but closed the gap on second placed Manchester City to just one point following their defeat against Tottenham.

Fofana speaks on Chelsea win against Leicester

It was a return to their former club for both Maresca and Fofana, with the Leicester supporters not huge fans of the Frenchman given the circumstances in which he left the club in 2022.

Given Malo Gusto’s absence through illness and Reece James out injured Fofana was deployed at right back and admitted he doesn’t care if the manager plays him at right back or centre back.

The Blues controlled the game for large periods although did allow Leicester a couple of chances in the first half which they possibly should have done better with.

An injury time Jordan Ayew penalty made the game look a lot closer than it was in reality, and speaking afterwards Fofana admitted he was frustrated the Blues didn’t keep a clean sheet.

“The one little negative was conceding at the end, we wanted the clean sheet but the job was done, and we got the three points to take back to London. That’s the main thing!” he told Chelsea’s website.

“It keeps us in a good place in the Premier League standings going into a busy period of fixtures and now we just need to keep pushing forward.”

A lot has been said about Chelsea’s defence this season and it probably is the weakest part of the team at the moment, but only six teams have conceded fewer goals than the Blues this season.

Fofana will have the night off against Heidenheim in the Conference League on Thursday after not being named in the squad and Maresca has an agreement with his coaching staff he will only play once a week until the start of 2025, as he continues to build up his fitness after missing the entire of last season.
