Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has been pictured using crutches, sparking fears that he is currently dealing with a serious injury.

Lindelof was missing from United’s matchday squad to face Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday evening.

The Sweden international was also not part of the United contingent that made its way to London to face Manchester City in the Community Shield.

On that occasion, Erik ten Hag insisted that Lindelof was suffering from a fitness problem. The United boss however did not reveal the extent and exact nature of the physical setback Lindelof picked up.

On Saturday morning, Lindelof’s wife – Maja Nilsson Lindelof – posted a video on her Instagram stories of her husband hobbling out of their house with the use of a crutch.

In the video, Lindelof appears to be moving uncomfortably as he barely makes it to what seems like a car.

Maja captioned the video with the message, “Doing everything in slow motion these days.”

United signed Lindelof from Benfica in the summer of 2017. During his time at Old Trafford, the 30-year-old has made 259 appearances across all competitions. He has registered four goals and seven assists in that time.

He made 28 appearances last term but missed the latter stages of the campaign with a hamstring problem that has kept him sidelined since March 30.

It’s believed that United are eager to offload the Swede this season amidst links to clubs such as Fiorentina and Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, if his injury is serious, then United’s plans to part ways with Lindelof are highly unlikely to materialise.

Considering the player has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the 20-time English champions, Ten Hag’s side would be in serious danger of losing him for free next summer.
