There has been a question mark hanging over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (35) for the past few weeks. The top goal scorer for Olympique de Marseille last season had previously committed himself to the remaining year on his contract in the South of France but as the days went by and rumours of offers from Saudi Arabia grew, the Marseille hierarchy wanted confirmation that their forward would be there next year.

According to Foot Mercato, Marseille and their new manager, Roberto De Zerbi, could not convince Aubameyang to see out the rest of his contract. Instead, the Gabonese international will join Al-Qadisiyah with an agreement between the clubs thought to be imminent (possibly as soon as the next few hours).

Marseille had anticipated this decision and have been working on trying to bring in a new option to take on the attacking responsibility for the team with the club linked to Mason Greenwood (22) and Eddie Nketiah (25).
