Sampdoria coach Andrea Pirlo hit out at the critics on social media, highlighting how it’s ‘easy to talk in front of the TV’ without appreciating the day-to-day realities.

The former Juventus tactician took over on the Ligurian coast last summer following their relegation to Serie B, tasked with taking them back up to the topflight. It’s not been an easy season for the 2006 World Cup winner, whose team sit eighth in the table with only a few weeks left to play.

Pirlo has come under increasing pressure over the last few months, but a run of good form in March briefly papered over the cracks. Since then, Sampdoria are winless in their last three matches, pilling on the stress ahead of their clash with Como.

Pirlo anger

Speaking in a press conference via Calciomercato.com, Pirlo was asked about the criticism aimed at him and Sampdoria on social media.

“It’s normal, if you win, you’re good, if you lose, you’re not. There are 60 million coaches in Italy, but not everyone can do it.

“It’s easy to talk when you’re at the stadium or watching the match in front of the TV, it’s another thing to be here working every day.

“Criticism has never bothered me, I continue to work with my head held high.”
