In March, Presnel Kimpembe (29) made his first Ligue 1 appearance in over two years. However, the Paris Saint-Germain centre-back has failed to garner considerable gametime since his return from an achilles tendon injury.
Kimpembe came off the bench as PSG beat AS Saint-Étienne 6-1 at the end of March. Prior to that, his last appearance in France’s top-flight came back in February 2023. The Frenchman struggled to bounce back from the injury and required two bouts of surgery.
He has made three other brief substitute appearances, two in the Coupe de France and one against Stade Brestois in the UEFA Champions League. On each occasion, PSG have been well in control of proceedings. However, despite getting a few minutes on the pitch, Kimpembe is not featuring regularly and is struggling to find a rhythm.
Le Parisien understands that the France international has now requested to play a reserve game. That request has been accepted by PSG’s staff. As a result, he will play for the youth side when they face Nîmes on Friday afternoon.
