The Red Devils have travelled to Malta for a warm weather training camp. They will face Dutch club PSV in a friendly fixture at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Friday evening before returning to the UK.
Manchester United’s first domestic fixture after the winter break is an Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Newcastle United next weekend and head coach Skinner says that the PSV game will provide his side with good preparation for that match.
“PSV have got some exceptional players and the style is very good,” Skinner said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “I expect it to be very difficult but that’s why we are here, we wanted to play PSV because of the quality of the players that they have got.
“It’ll be great preparation for the FA Cup tie [against Newcastle United]. This is a perfect camp for us to challenge ourselves and we are really looking forward to the game.”
Manchester United have scored in every game this season while opponents PSV have found the back of the net in all of their last six Azerion Eredivisie Vrouwen fixtures. Skinner believes that both sides will want to attack on Friday evening.
He said “I would expect that [attacking play and goals]. I would expect to feel the team playing the way that they want to, getting back into rhythm.
“It’s two competitive clubs, huge clubs in their own right. We need to be using this as a real good game. We are playing good opposition and we are looking forward to it.”
Manchester United’s friendly fixture against PSV kicks-off at 5pm on Friday evening.
