After the match in London, Ranieri discussed Roma’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
In his post-match interview with Sky Sport, Ranieri said, “The boys played a great game. I didn’t expect this kind of reaction.”
“I wasn’t happy with the game against Napoli, we only defended and I don’t like that.”
“Today, however, I was clear. We mustn’t sit back, we mustn’t be afraid. If Spurs attack, we must counter. That’s what the fans like.”
“The boys understood that and I’m happy. I told them that the result was secondary.”
“What mattered tonight was performance to show that they haven’t forgotten how to play football.”
“Hummels? He has incredible experience: he gave confidence to the team with his high pressure though he is still not in top condition. I am convinced that he can do very well in Roma’s defense.”
“I took Dybala off because he trained very little and I didn’t want to risk him more than that, there will be time. I liked him a lot and he even came close to scoring.”
