Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch just put in two moments of unreal quality as the Netherlands faced rivals Germany.

Ryan Gravenberch may be the most talked about Liverpool player right now. Arne Slot took a chance on him this season, deciding he had the quality to play as a deep-lying midfielder in his new-look team.

It's a risk. Gravenberch has actually consistently failed in that role but Slot is backing himself to make it work in ways others couldn't.

Early signs this season are that he's right to do that. Gravenberch has been fantastic in the opening three games and his efforts against Manchester United were just brilliant.

What's even more encouraging is that he appears to be carrying that form into the national level, too. This isn't just a case of Slot's system finding the best of him - we might be watching Gravenberch finally fulfil his potential.

That potential was on show on Tuesday evening as the Netherlands took on Germany.

Ryan Gravenberch vs Germany

The Netherlands got off to a sensational start against their rivals, going ahead inside two minutes. Gravenberch got the assist, too, as he sliced open the Germans' high line to put Tijjani Reijnders clean through on goal. The forward finished for 1-0.

And it should have been two assists. Gravenberch had everyone amazed with one first-half pass that honestly looked like Trent Alexander-Arnold at his best.

He volleyed a 50-yard beauty across the pitch to once again put his team through on goal. This time, however, the finish wasn't there to match the pass.

But Gravenberch is flying right now and looks like he's in the form of his life. Doing it for both club and country is a sign that a player is really clicking things together, after all.

This was a fantastic showcase for what Gravenberch can bring. If he keeps this all up, every fan will be glad that Martin Zubimendi made the choice he did.

Because Gravenberch looks special.
