Manchester United start the new Premier League season against Fulham at Old Trafford tonight.

The Red Devils ended the previous campaign on a high with three successive wins including a 2-1 triumph over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Their pre-season preparation was not the best, but manager Erik ten Hag will expect a strong showing from his side with home advantage.

The club will be aiming to avenge the 2-1 loss to Fulham earlier this year.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

Andre Onana is an undisputed choice in goal for Ten Hag. He missed just one game last season due to his participation with Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.

There could be a solitary change in the backline. Both Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt will be in the squad, but the latter played just one friendly game for Bayern Munich before his arrival.

Mazraoui was active for Bayern from the start of pre-season and should make his full debut. The Moroccan could start at right-back with Diogo Dalot moving to the opposite flank to fill the void left by Luke Shaw’s latest injury.

Harry Maguire is most likely to partner Lisandro Martinez in central defence with Jonny Evans on the bench.

Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo are assured starters in the centre of the park. Casemiro had a brilliant game versus Manchester City in the Community Shield, winning ten duels and seven tackles. He also created two key chances in the opening half.

Further forward, Marcus Rashford is likely to be dropped for Alejandro Garnacho on the left wing. The latter had a lively performance off the bench against City, scoring the opening goal.

Rashford was guilty of missing two clear-cut chances. With Amad Diallo in fine form during pre-season, the £51 million-rated star could be the one to miss out. Diallo is likely to feature on the right wing which is his preferred role.

Bruno Fernandes looks set to continue as the false nine with Mason Mount occupying the number 10 role.

Joshua Zirkzee has trained with the squad for the past few weeks, but the lack of match action means he could make a cameo appearance on debut.
