Rayo Vallecano star Andrei Rațiu gave an excellent account of himself in what was considered something of an audition against Barcelona on Monday evening.

The name of defender Rațiu has of course proven a prominent one in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona over recent months.

This comes amid the understanding that the Romanian has been identified as a summer transfer target on the part of the Blaugrana.

Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at full-back for next season, Rațiu has been identified as the ideal profile.

Upon Rayo making the trip to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga meeting with none other than Barcelona this evening, the matchup was in turn labelled as essentially an audition for the 26-year-old.

And though his side were ultimately condemned to the wrong side of a 1-0 result, Rațiu gave an excellent account of himself.

Steady in his defending and always a threat with his trademark surges forward, the Rayo star showcased precisely why he has been earmarked as a potential addition to Hansi Flick’s Barca squad.

It now remains to be seen if Rațiu has done enough for the Camp Nou brass to actually move forward with an offer.
