Real Betis meet with Barcelona forward Vitor Roque as exit heats up

Barcelona forward Vitor Roque appears to be nearing an exit just seven months after arriving in Catalonia for €30m. Two clear options have emerged for the 19-year-old Brazilian.

Sporting Director Deco traveled to Lisbon to holds talks with  Sporting CP over the weekend, and came away with terms at a €20m offer plus just over €10m in variables, which could initially leave them short of what they paid for the Brazilian. It would however be the most financially beneficial this summer.

On the other hand, Roque is reportedly keen to stay in Spain, and Real Betis sent Sporting Director Manu Fajardo, ambassador Joaquin and CEO Ramon Alarcon to Barcelona to negotiate with Roque and his agent Andre Cury. Jijantes report that they held a lengthy meeting with the forward, explaining their project.

However, that deal looks less simple. Betis are also in negotiations for Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko, and it seems unlikely that they would sign both. Los Verdiblancos would be looking for a loan deal with an option to buy 50% of his rights at the end of the season.

If Barcelona are seeking to free up space in their salary limit, then clearly the offer from Sporting would make more sense. However the Blaugrana will also have to work out what Roque himself wants, and if he is set on Betis, then there is little they can do. With the Betis move, it would also allow Roque to hang onto the dream of succeeding at Barcelona.
