Real Madrid among three clubs eyeing a Bosman move for Liverpool superstar | OneFootball

Virgil van Dijk is expected to be one of the most sought-after players in the market next summer, with all eyes on his current contract situation at Liverpool.

The defender’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, with everything suggesting that the player will leave the club on a free transfer.

Van Dijk’s current situation has put a number of clubs on red alert and it appears one of them are Real Madrid.

Real Madrid eye move for van Dijk

According to El Nacional, Real Madrid are one of three clubs eyeing a move for van Dijk next summer.

The report adds that van Dijk has already received a proposal from the reigning European champions. However, Los Blancos are not alone in the race.

As mentioned earlier, there are two other clubs keen on acquiring the services of van Dijk. One of them are Bayern Munich while the other being Juventus.

Both these clubs require defensive reinforcements and someone like van Dijk, to that end, could be an ideal addition.

One could argue, though, that it is Real Madrid who may require van Dijk’s services the most. The club have struggled a lot in the wake of an apparent injury crisis, with the likes of Eder Militao, David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Dani Carvajal currently sidelined.

Lucas Vazquez became the latest player to join the list of absentees, thereby further compounding Real Madrid’s problems.

The club, therefore, require significant reinforcements in the defensive unit and that is where Virgil van Dijk comes into the fray.

The report suggests Real Madrid rate van Dijk highly due to the experience and leadership he brings to the table. But most importantly, the Spanish champions are attracted to the idea of signing the Dutchman on a free transfer.
