Alphonso Davies is one of the hottest topics in the transfer market this summer, with the player currently in the final 12 months of his contract at Bayern Munich.

Davies has refrained from signing any contract with Bayern despite the best attempts from the German outfit. This has led to uncertainty over his future.

Real Madrid are among the clubs ready to take advantage of any arising market opportunity, as part of the club’s plans to shore up the left-back unit.

A major boost for Real Madrid

A recent report from German news outlet Kicker (h/t Mundo Deportivo) has offered a crucial update on the future of Alphonso Davies – something that can be perceived as a major positive for Real Madrid.

As per the report, it appears Davies has rejected all advances from Bayenr to renew his contract. The defender is unhappy with the contract terms offered by the Bundesliga giants and is holding out for a bumper €20 million salary.

As a result, Bayern Munich have given up their hopes of retaining the services of Davies and as such, we could see the Canadian international leaving Allianz Arena this summer.

This contradicts earlier reports of Bayern Munich potentially willing to let the player run down his contract at the club.

Agreement with Bayern to be an issue?

Bayern Munich’s failure to convince Davies to sign a renewal could serve as a massive boost for Real Madrid, as it means the club may have an opportunity to sign the player this summer.

However, the Bavarians remain adamant about their €50-60 million valuation for Davies – something Real Madrid are not willing to pay for a player in the final year of his contract.

This disagreement appears to have created an impasse and unless Bayern reduce their asking fee drastically, it is unlikely Los Blancos would be able to secure the services of Davies this summer.

The coming weeks could be crucial as Davies look to take a final decision over his future.
