As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid will not sign Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies this summer.

Over the past twelve months, it has been difficult to tell who the Canadian international would be plying his trade for in the 2024–25 campaign.

While Los Blancos were looking to tempt the left-back to the Spanish capital, Der Rekordmeister have been trying to offer Davies an extended deal at the club.

Nevertheless, both sides failed to match the defenders’ €20 million-a-year salary demands, leaving the saga at a standstill.

From Madrid’s perspective, a transfer this summer is definitely off the table, as confirmed by Carlo Ancelotti, who stated that the club’s transfer window “is closed” after their European Super Cup victory over Atalanta.

A move for the Canadian in 2025, however, is certainly a possibility.

Regardless, Bayern’s stance is clear: if Davies’ performances improve, they will offer him an improved deal financially; if they do not, then there is a high chance he will move to Madrid as a free agent next year.

Should the latter come to fruition, then the record champions may look to reignite their interest in AC Milan left-back Theo Hernández.
