Real Madrid and Spain star Dani Carvajal was today drawn on his preference between two of the game’s standout wingers at this moment in time.

The pair in question? Kylian Mbappé, and Nico Williams.

Both Mbappé and Williams, of course, operate on the left flank, boasting a number of similar attributes, most notably explosive pace.

The two also like to cut in onto their favoured right foot, whilst possessing the ability to turn any game on its head by way of a moment of individual qualit.

Mbappé and Williams actually locked horns on the international stage earlier this week, when it was the latter who had the last laugh, Spain booking their spot in the finale of Euro 2024 at the expense of France.

Over the course of the tournament, it was Williams who undoubtedly provided a better account of himself, too.

But it is Real Madrid-bound Mbappé who boasts the clear edge when it comes to reputation, with his brilliance having stretched back a full eight years at this point.

Speaking in an interview with COPE on Thursday, the aforementioned Dani Carvajal was therefore asked to make his pick between the two players, one of whom is his international teammate, and the other primed to join him in Spain’s capital at club level next season.

And the defender, to his credit, conjured up the perfect response:

“Nico Williams or Mbappé? Well, whoever is on my team. Nico on Sunday. Mbappé after that!”
