Marco Reus scored two stunning goals as Borussia Dortmund kicked off their pre-season preparations with a 7-0 win over fourth tier Rhynern Westfalia.
Scorers: Reus 12′, 24′, Rijkhoff 43′, Besong 52′, 67′, Blank 84′, Aning 87′.
Marco Reus, who stepped back from the Dortmund captaincy earlier in the week, gave them the lead early on after volleying home from close range after being picked out by Thorgan Hazard’s chipped cross.
Reus was on hand to make it two with another well-taken goal, this time smashing into the top corner from 25 yards out.
Striker Julian Rijkhoff, who is tipped to make a breakthrough into the senior set-up this season, added a third before half-time.
The goals continued to come in the second half with Paul-Philipp Besong rounding the goalkeeper and tapping into the empty net after Dortmund had won the ball back high up the pitch.
Besong was then on hand to add his second courtesy of another tap-in after an electric breakaway from Julien Duranville.
Hakan Sezer had a golden chance to get a consolation for the hosts from the spot but spurned his penalty wide before Hendry Blank got on to the end of a corner at the back post to make it six.
Prince Aning then took advantage of more poor defending to slide in the seventh and round off proceedings.
