La Liga and RFEF were prompt to reject Barcelona’s request to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the season in January.

They then maintained their stance against the CSD’s decision to allow both players to play, and La Liga president Javier Tebas has been particularly vocal about his disappointment.

At this point, it is clear that the Spanish bodies will stop at nothing to ensure that the player is deregistered from Barcelona’s plans, especially with the CSD yet to make a binding decision.

RFEF’s latest statement

As relayed by Mundo Deportivo, the president of RFEF Rafael Louzan had a meeting recently with the Secretary of State for Sports Jose Manuel Rodriguez Uribes, following which he was asked about Olmo’s situation.

The RFEF President’s reply was quite unclear, but he placed the onus of taking a decision on the CSD.

“He is a great professional and a great person. And we always love him,” he began on Olmo.

“Now, let’s wait for everyone to do their job, and when the CSD resolves, we’ll talk. Doing it now is premature. Let’s wait,” he added.

After permitting the duo’s registration via a precautionary measure, the CSD gave both Barcelona and La Liga time to present their sides of the story.

A final decision will be made before April 7th and it remains to be seen whose side the final ruling supports.

La Liga continues to insist that the Spaniard’s registration needs to be annulled, with Tebas earlier today stating that he should not be allowed to finish the season with Barça.

Moreover, the league argues that the investor who helped the club return to the 1:1 rule had connections with the Catalans years prior.

Barcelona, for their part, are confident that Olmo will continue to be with them until the end of the season despite Tebas’ best attempts to foil their plans.
