Roma coach Paulo Fonseca was delighted with their 2-0 win at Europa League opponents CFR Cluj.
Jordan Veretout forced an own goal and then converted a penalty in Romania.
“We want first place in the group and that means winning one more game. Despite many difficulties, the lads showed great character today, some having to play out of position and sacrificing themselves for the team, which I appreciated," Fonseca told Sky Sport Italia.
“I liked the way everyone played, especially in the circumstances, and in roles that were not their own."
Roma will play at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday in Serie A, although there is now a push for it to be renamed the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
“It's the perfect tribute for Maradona and will become even more of a legendary arena," said Fonseca.
“It was a very sad for anyone who loves football, especially someone like me who grew up watching Maradona. He was an idol for all of us who are passionate about this sport."
