Sky: Ibrahimovic showed ‘anger’ in post-training meeting with squad – the background

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not happy that AC Milan were knocked out of the Champions League by Feyenoord and he made the team aware of it at full-time.
A Sky report speaks of a ‘heavy air at Milanello’ the day after the elimination from the Champions League. There was understandably ‘frustration and anger’ for having compromised a path that in Europe could have been a lot different.
First there was the defeat in Zagreb, which meant the failure to finish in the top eight and obtain direct access to the round of 16 without having to go through the play-offs. Then the defeat in Rotterdam and the draw at San Siro, resulting in the shock farewell from the Champions League.
Ibrahimovic (lately ever present like never before at Milanello) ‘thundered’, ‘venting’ his anger in the dressing room immediately after the morning training session. He made his ‘anger and disappointment’ for the performances and results known.
It is legitimate to expect more from a Milan built in the summer and improved – not without financial effort – in the last winter window. Now, the minimum objective is to finish in the top four in order to have a shot at European redemption next season, otherwise the fall-out could be even bigger.
