The Sky Sports column ‘Jones Knows’ has given some interesting analysis and commentary on what is currently the position at Newcastle United.

The column makes predictions on what will happen at certain Premier League matches and also debates other matters/issues at clubs as well.

However, unlike the usual ex-pro predictions, that are usually simply based on how ‘big’ a club is and whether or not they won the previous game, this one has proper analysis and insight, not lazy assumptions.

The Sky Sports ‘Jones Knows’ column looks at the matches from a betting perspective and has been concentrating on this Newcastle United game away at Brighton.

Lewis Jones (who is the Sky Sports expert behind the ‘Jones Knows’ column) has highlighted some major underlying factors that could/should have a big bearing on this Brighton v Newcastle game.

“Brighton remain a team to fade, especially against such a relentless and well coached side like Newcastle with a goal in their sights.

“The Seagulls have conceded at least twice in each of their last six Premier League games and shipped 24 goals in their last 11 league encounters.

“These poor returns certainly marry up with my opinion that Fabian Hurzeler is struggling to get the best out of this talented squad.

“Newcastle have scored two or more goals in six of their last seven matches and sometimes the obvious bet is the best bet.

“Therefore, Alexander Isak to score in a Newcastle win looks a great bet to attack at 9/4 with Sky Bet.

“Score prediction: Brighton 1 Newcastle 3

“Jones Knows’ best bet: Alexander Isak to score in a Newcastle win (9/4 with Sky Bet).”

Interesting analysis, as always, from the Sky Sports expert.

Struggle to disagree with pretty much any of that.

The stats speak for themselves.

Even their one win in the last seven matches (all competitions) saw Brighton needing an 89th minute goal to equalise at home against fourth bottom West Ham, then the Seagulls getting an added time winner.

Only Liverpool (80) and Man City (67) have scored more Premier League goals this season than Newcastle United (65), plus if the Sky Sports man’s prediction comes true with this game in hand on Pep Guardiola’s team, Newcastle will become second top goalscorers with 68.

Also worth noting that other than the bottom five in the Premier League, Brighton have conceded more goals (55) than all of the other top 15 clubs, apart from Wolves (62).
