WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Saints this afternoon.
Haaland joins Southampton after leaving former club Bristol City last week. The player signed a short-term deal with The Robins in November but the decision was made to allow her to move on and pursue a new opportunity. In what was her second spell at Ashton Gate, Haaland made three appearances for Bristol City in all competitions.
The Norwegian keeper will now look to establish herself at new club Southampton and she will challenge Kayla Rendell and Beth Howard for the goalkeeping jersey in the coming weeks. Haaland could yet find herself back in the Barclays Women’s Super League sooner rather than later with Southampton putting up a strong challenge for promotion.
After joining Southampton, Haaland said “I’m very excited, I’ve heard great things about the club and it’s very good to be here. I’ve been following Southampton and have seen how quickly they’ve done well in the last few years. It’s definitely something I wanted to be a part of.”
Haaland becomes Southampton manager Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s first signing of the January transfer window.
