Spanish striker Álvaro Morata has informed Atlético Madrid of his intention to stay at the club next season. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, both the club and manager Diego Simeone are aware of the forward’s ambition to continue at the red and white team next season.

Despite recent reports suggesting Morata was close to joining Saudi Arabia’s Al-Qadsiah, the 31-year-old has given priority to Atlético as he wants to stay. The Spain international also has offers from other clubs in the Saudi Pro League and has attracted interest from various other clubs in Europe.

Morata had a scintillating campaign last season, scoring 20 goals and notching four assists in 42 matches. Italian side Roma are also monitoring the striker’s situation as they look to replace Romelu Lukaku, who has now returned to Chelsea after his loan spell concluded.

Although Morata wants to continue in Spain, the La Liga side have made it clear they are ready to part ways with the player and they believe his €12m release clause will be activated by several clubs. The club are looking at Artem Dovbyk as a replacement for the attacker, however a decision on Morata’s future is likely to be made after his involvement at Euro 2024 comes to an end.
