The SPFL have released a statement on the latest saga surrounding away fan allocations for Glasgow’s derby between Celtic and Rangers.

Following reports this week that Rangers would not receive tickets for their trip to Parkhead in two weeks due to reportedly being unable to guarantee the status (or venue) of the second fixture of the season in January, the SPFL have confirmed that they have held showdown talks with both clubs.

It has now been agreed that the first two fixtures of the season will take place with zero away fan allocations.

After those games, both clubs will provide ticket allocations of ‘around 5%’ of the respective stadium capacity for away fans for league fixtures.

However, it is noted that those allocations are ‘subject to all necessary requirements being satisfied at both Celtic Park and Ibrox’.

Rangers are currently playing their home fixtures at Hampden Park due to the delay in construction works taking place in Govan and there is still no definitive timeline for when they will return to Ibrox.
