Standard Liege have announced the signing of Boli Bolingoli on a free. The 29-year-old left-back was available after his release from fellow Belgian Pro League club KV Mechelen following the end of his contract. Bolingoli’s time with Malinwa was blighted by injury as he was not able to put a consistent run of games together. Standard are operating on a tight budget and are having to find ways to build a squad without investing large amounts of money.

Bolingoli joined Mechelen from Celtic for the 2022/2023 season. He made 31 appearances for Celtic during his time there, with a spell on loan with Istanbul Basaksehir. The defender played for Club Brugge and Sint-Truiden before leaving Belgium for Rapid Vienna and Celtic. During his time with Mechelen he made 34 appearances. The defender was only able to make 13 appearances last season. Hopefully the injuries that have set him back over the past few seasons will be behind him as he looks to help Standard during the 2024/2025 campaign.
