Roma midfielder Enzo Le Fee ‘has opened’ up to the prospect of joining Sunderland, while the Black Cats are offering an ‘obligation’ tempter to the Italian giants.
The Black Cats’ performance in the first half of the ongoing season has sparked hope of automatic promotion to the Premier League or at worst a chance through the playoffs.
Regis Le Bris has his men three points off the top of the table and the club will look to strengthen in January to make their promotion hopes stronger.
The Sunderland boss has identified Le Fee, who he has worked with at Lorient, as a transfer target.
Sunderland have also submitted a loan offer with an option to buy in the summer for the midfielder to Roma.
According to Rome-based Italian daily Il Tempo, the Black Cats are tempting Roma by proposing that if they go up, the buy option will become an ‘obligation’.
It is suggested Sunderland are pushing to complete the deal and Le Fee has ‘opened’ up to a move to Wearside.
Real Betis have been competing with Sunderland for Le Fee.
Now it remains to be seen whether Sunderland will be able to strike a deal with Roma to sign the midfielder.
