The ACN Match Review 24/25 – Sunderland (h)

How did we play?
Better than for a while. Some slick passing that ultimately never quite came to anything. Frustrating but promising. On this evidence I suspect we’ll be seeing Sunderland back at Carrow Road next season.
What was the best bit of the game?
Angus winding up the away fans by pretending to roll out the ball too far for a free-kick in front of them. Very Gunn behaviour.
What was the worst bit of the game?
Another heart-in-mouth bit of playing out from the back that we were lucky to get away with. It had been a while.
What was the atmosphere like?
Pretty dead in both the home and away sections with a very end-of-season feel. Anyone checking for ticket availability in the days leading up to the game would have struggled to find anything more than single seats, yet in reality there were big gaps everywhere. With a new ticketing website coming this summer, a buyback system that actually serves a function and incentivises season ticket holders to free up unused seats has to be part of it.
Hero of the match
Jacob Wright was tidy, efficient, progressive and able to stick a foot in to win the ball on a few vital occasions. Let’s hope to see plenty more of him in these final games of the season and beyond.
Summary in Five Words
Friendship Trophy, always next year.
