“The form that they are in” – Jordan Pickford comments on Chelsea after 0-0 draw

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has commented on Chelsea after seeing his side play out a tough fought 0-0 draw against them yesterday.

It wasn’t a classic game of football at all, and it was just heavy possession from Chelsea. But the reality is that they didn’t actually get to do much with that possession in terms of an attacking threat. I do think Chelsea’s attackers mainly had a very poor game. But also, Everton were tough, resilient, and very hard to break down so they must get a lot of credit for that as well.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea already agree terms for player to sign in the summer!

Sean Dyche has this Everton side well organised and well drilled, and Chelsea certainly found that out yesterday. In fact, if it wasn’t for some massive saves by a player who I actually named man of the match in Robert Sanchez, Chelsea would have lost that game because Everton actually had the better chances to score.

Pickford didn’t have too much to do really other than some routines saves. Nicolas Jackson did miss a couple of big chances for Chelsea too though.

Pickford was pleased with how his side performed against Chelsea

The England international was speaking after the 0-0 draw yesterday, and he said:

“We work hard on defending and are resilient – it shows on days like today. Playing top sides like Arsenal away last week, defending most of the game and counter-attacking, being compact today against a very good side in Chelsea and the form that they are in. We dig in when we have got to dig in and we work hard.”

And how hard they work on defending really showed yesterday. They more than deserved that point against Chelsea. The Blues should be disappointed that they didn’t play better though, because on the whole they were very poor yesterday.
