Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku has insisted that he will return to his performance against Chelsea to review his game and work on the training ground to improve.

The reigning Premier League champions began their defence of yet another English top-flight crown with a largely routine victory on the opening weekend, dismissing of Enzo Maresca’s project-in-progress via a 0-2 scoreline at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Erling Haaland in the first-half, and a late individual effort from Mateo Kovacic sealed the three points, in a performance that also saw the full debut of two inspiring wingers on either side for Pep Guardiola’s outfit.

Savinho earned himself a full Premier League debut by starting on the left of Manchester City’s front-three, before switching to the right, accompanied by Jeremy Doku, who did the same on the opposite sides to the Brazilian.

Speaking to reporters after Manchester City’s 0-2 win, Jeremy Doku was keen to reveal his desire to re-watch his performance at Stamford Bridge in order to improve on the training ground.

“I feel good in this team – I know I have not reached my full potential and there is still a long way to go with a lot of improvement,” Doku said.

“I watch game-by-game to see what I can improve. I’m happy with the performance but I still think I can do better with the final pass.”

The Belgian winger continued, “I’m going to watch this game back and see what I can improve for the next game. I want to play a big impact and big role in this team.

“I want to perform every time I get the chance to be on the pitch, to be decisive and get some goals and assists.”

Doku could be handed an immediate chance to rectify any errors he feels as though he made in the outing against Chelsea by taking on the newly-promoted Ipswich Town defence on Saturday afternoon.

Kieran McKenna’s side come into the clash off the back of opening weekend defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Portman Road, in a harsh welcome to top-flight football by taking on Arne Slot’s side before a visit to the Premier League champions the following gameweek.
