Torino have found the replacement for Alessandro Buongiorno, agreeing a deal to sign defender Saul Coco from Las Palmas for a reported €10m including add-ons.

Italy international Buongiorno was sold to Antonio Conte’s Napoli, so the Granata had to find someone to fill his shoes.

Multiple sources including Sportitalia and Canarias7 assure that a deal has been done between the clubs.

It is expected to be €7-7.5m upfront with €2-3m in add-ons, plus a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.

Who is Torino target Saul Coco?

Coco turned 25 in February, but while he was born and raised in Spain, he plays his international football for Equatorial Guinea.

He amassed 16 senior caps for his country, also scoring three goals, which is unusual for a defender.

Coco plays primarily as a centre-back, but can also work on the right or as a more advanced defensive midfielder.

A product of the Las Palmas academy, there were also brief loan spells at Espanyol and UA Horta.

The club is forced to sell, as his contract only runs to June 2025 and he is at risk of leaving as a free agent next summer.
