AC Milan made the decision to hand Luka Jovic a renewal in the summer, and yet the striker has barely played a part so far this season.
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) have a section in their paper today dedicated to the curious case of Jovic, who – according to Paulo Fonseca – is struggling with an injury. However, he is in the list of players called up by Serbia for the upcoming internationals.
The official line from the club is that the former Eintracht Frankfurt man has been out with pubalgia (lower back pain) since mid-October, and has not played a single minute since. Common sense would suggest he should stay at Milanello over the break to improve his condition.
Nevertheless, he been called up to the Serbian national team for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Switzerland and Denmark. He will respond to the call too, meaning he will fly off to Serbia today along with Strahinja Pavlovic.
The list of international calls for Milan is long: Morata (Spain), Maignan (France), Theo Hernandez (France), Reijnders (Netherlands), Okafor (Switzerland), Leao (Portugal), Musah (USA), Pulisic (USA) and Chukwueze (Nigeria).
The youth internationals must be added such as Camarda, Torriani Bartesaghi (who however got injured yesterday against Milan Futuro), Zeroli and Liberali. In short, Fonseca will have the bare bones of the squad to work with, after the concerning 3-3 draw in Cagliari.
