France reached the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 semi-finals after finally making the breakthrough against the Netherlands.
Setting the , Daphne van Domselaar turned away a sliced clearance and did well to save Delphine Cascarino’s powerful strike.
Sandie Toletti blazed a great chance wide of the Dutch goal and when the Netherlands failed to clear a corner, Cascarino fizzed a volley against the post.
Melvine Malard looked set to score but Stephanie van de Gragt cleared off the line, the same player later keeping out a Grace Geyoro shot.
In the second half, Van Domselaar tipped over a Selma Bacha effort and from the resulting corner turned Wendie Renard’s header round the post.

Geyoro missed a great opportunity heading wide in the last five minutes, Van Domselaar ensured extra-time with a superb tip round the upright from Renard’s header.
In the 102nd minute France were awarded a spot-kick after a pitchside monitor check, for Janssen’s tackle on Kadidiatou Diani.
Eve Perisset converted to set up a clash with Germany in Milton Keynes on Wednesday.
