There was plenty more European football on Thursday courtesy of the Europa League.

Here is what went down.

Manchester United edge Omonia

Manchester United survived a scare against Omonia after grinding out a 1-0 win at home.

The opening first half was all United as they registered 15 efforts but things remained 0-0 at the break.

Marcus Rashford’s shot was stopped by Omonia’s second-choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, Bruno Fernandes curled one wide, Fred sent one over the bar and Casemiro hit the woodwork.

However, despite the dominance, a defensive error just before half-time almost had Manchester United with their heads in their hands.

Omonia caught United out on a counter-attack and Bruno Felipe beat Victor Lindelöf for pace only to sky his attempt over the bar instead of squaring the ball to a wide-open teammate in the middle of the box.

Coming out after the break Erik ten Hag’s side clearly had a talk at half-time and the hosts almost broke the deadlock within seconds only for Uzoho to pull off an impressive double save.

In the end, it would take the efforts of a super-sub for the hosts to find the victory as Scott McTominay bundled the ball over the line deep into injury time to break Omonia’s hearts.

Manchester United sit second in Group E following the result while Omonia are bottom of the group with zero points.

Deflected Saka strike enough for Arsenal

Arsenal made it two wins on the spin against Bodø/Glimt courtesy of a first half goal from Bukayo Saka.

After an evenly matched opening period in Norway, Saka gave the visitors the lead with an effort which deflected past the goalkeeper and inside the near post.

Bodø/Glimt then had a huge chance to equalise when Amahl Pellegrino was put clean through on goal, but he got the finish all wrong and skewed it high and wide.

Into the second half and the hosts continued pressing for an equaliser, with Ola Solbakken and Runar Espejord both going close to scoring.

But Arsenal held on to claim three points which leave them top of Group A with a 100% record.

Belotti earns Roma a point at Betis

Real Betis confirmed their place in the top two of Group C despite being held to a draw by Roma.

After a cagey start it was the hosts who broke the deadlock at the Benito Villamarín, when a Sergio Canales effort took a deflection off Roger Ibañez and flew past Roma goalkeeper Rui Patrício.

Andrea Belotti thought he’d equalised for Roma in first half stoppage time when he headed home from close range, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

But Belotti did equalise early in the second half, when Mady Camara took Betis goalkeeper Claudio Bravo out of the game with a cut-back, leaving the striker with a tap-in. The goal was initially ruled out for offside but after a VAR check it was allowed to stand.
