An update on the fitness and availability of the Valencia squad has been provided today in preparation of their trip to Las Palmas.
According to Relevo, André Almeida is back in training with the group after being sidelined for four months. Although no deadline has been set for his return to action, the match against Real Madrid in one month is viewed as a realistic possibility.
It is a huge boost for Valencia, who four months ago when the player picked up an injury were aiming to avoid relegation and are now in the battle for Europe. Almeida’s return has been eagerly awaited with the talented playmaker now being able to help with the club’s ambitions to finish the season as strongly as possible in the new year.
The 23-year-old suffered a displaced vertebra, which at first seemed minor, but has kept him sidelined for four months. It wasn’t deemed a serious injury, but it was a very painful one that even caused him discomfort when walking.
In terms of his return his action, the Spanish club will adopt a very cautious approach as they do not want to rush him back too soon and aggravate the injury. If the Portuguese player feels pain again he will have to stop and take time out for recovery.
The midfielder could be fit again Real Madrid next month, as long as there are no setbacks or other injuries. Almeida is going to progressively enter training but in today’s session, he didn’t complete the whole programme, although he did participate in a large chunk of it. Despite this, if his progressive re-introduction to the team goes well then he could enter the squad before the aforementioned date.
