Barrow assistant Robbie Stockdale feels that Aston Villa Under-21s had some ‘very technical players’ that were on display in the EFL Trophy clash between the two sides.
Aston Villa’s Under-21s faced League Two side Barrow on Tuesday in an EFL Trophy group stage game.
Josep Gombau’s side suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Barrow, but they managed to secure a place in the next round of the tournament by finishing second in the group.
Stockdale got an up close look at Aston Villa’s Under-21s and believes they have players who are technically very good.
The Barrow assistant manager pointed out that Villa’s youngsters posed a good challenge for the League Two side with and without the ball.
“It is always a tricky game in terms of you don’t really know what the opposition is going to bring, but obviously they are very technical players and they have some good players as well”, Stockdale told Barrow TV.
“It was a good challenge with and without the ball and it is nice to get that winning feeling back.”
Aston Villa Under-21 will now resume their focus on their Premier League 2 campaign, where they will face Norwich City on 2nd December.
