Carlos Soler, who’s currently on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, seems to have found his best form at West Ham United, leaving the club with a tough decision to make. However, his tenure with the Hammers might done after one season.

Soler knew he needed a fresh start this summer to secure regular playing time. Though multiple clubs showed interest during the transfer window, West Ham clinched his loan deal on deadline day.

As reported by Claret and Hugh in October, the move is purely a loan, with no option for West Ham to buy. A senior club official confirmed, “Soler is just here on loan with absolutely no obligation for us to buy.”

Given his high wages and PSG’s hefty asking price, any deal over £1 million would require board approval, making a permanent transfer seem unlikely. But now, that could be changing.

A one-and-done season for Carlos Soler at West Ham?

On Sunday, Claret and Hugh reported, citing sources, that West Ham United are highly unlikely to activate the option-to-buy clause in Soler’s loan deal.

Moreover, the report claims that, at just under €20 million, the transfer fee is not the main obstacle. However, Soler’s high wages make any potential deal prohibitive.

Claret and Hugh adds that Soler is seen as a signing from Julen Lopetegui, making it unlikely he’ll have a long-term future under Graham Potter, who is still evaluating his inherited West Ham squad.
