West Ham United forward Shekiera Martinez has returned to the club following her loan spell at German side SC Freiburg.

The Hammers confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 23-year-old German forward joined West Ham United from Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer and she signed a three-year deal with the East Londoners. West Ham United immediately loaned Martinez out to SC Freiburg to allow her to accumalate the necessary points to meet international player visa criteria. It has today been confirmed that Martinez has met the required criteria and she has therefore returned from her loan spell at SC Freiburg ahead of schedule.

Martinez made 13 appearances for SC Freiburg in all competitions during her time on loan at the club while she netted five goals. She signed off with a double in a 3-0 victory at Werder Bremen before the Christmas break. The forward will be hoping to now transfer her goalscoring form in the German top flight to the Barclays Women’s Super League.

West Ham United could call on Martinez’s services for the first time when they return to action against Liverpool in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round next weekend.
