West Ham United have signed Switzerland international attacking midfielder Seraina Piubel from FC Zürich Frauen.
The 24-year-old had been at Zurich since the age of 13, experienced the UEFA Women’s Champions League and helped them to four Super League titles and three Cups.
She won the Swiss Women’s Super League Player award in 2023 and has been capped 20 times for her country and played at the most recent World Cup.
Piubel told West Ham TV: “I’m delighted to be joining West Ham United. It feels great to be here.
“I would say that I have a good vision of the game and I am a dynamic player. The fans can expect to see commitment, passion and a player that gives everything to the team.
“West Ham clearly has big ambitions and it’s a dream for me to be a part of this project. I believe that I have the best opportunity to reach my full potential in a West Ham shirt and I am already looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
Manager Rehanne Skinner told whufc.com: “We have been watching Seraina’s progress for a little while now. She is a young, talented player who has stood out in the Swiss league for a few seasons and has already gained Champions League experience.
“As a tenacious midfielder also capable of playing across the forward line, Seraina is capable of creating and scoring goals and is a consistent threat to defenders.
“We feel she will adjust well to the Barclays Women’s Super League due to her work ethic and determination and her attacking capabilities will undoubtedly enhance our team moving forwards.”
