There has been a massive turnaround for one player at Chelsea this season and it’s probably one that not many expected to see.

No, I’m not talking about Nicolas Jackson, although he is another who has turned critics into admirers during the back end of last season and again now this season.

But another player who was disliked by the majority of Chelsea fans even last season is Marc Cucurella. But since he went off to the Euros and had massive success there with Spain in the summer, he has come back to Chelsea like a new player and has completely turned things around at the club.

He used to have Chelsea fans booing him, but now they are signing his name. His form has ticked up completely and he is now the player that many Chelsea fans thought we were signing when he joined from Brighton. It’s taken some time, but Cucurella is now showing some real consistency and showing that he is a top player.

Acknowledging fans singing his name

In Chelsea’s win away at Leicester on Saturday, Blues fans were signing Cucurella’s song at the end of the game, and he most certainly heard and appreciated it.

He said after in words cited by London World: “I think what the fans did was very special, singing my song. I have worked hard to have these moments, and the fans believe in me. I’m very happy, and the whole team is very happy. In this club, we have come from a very tough time, but now I think we are on a good path. We need to keep going and not relax, because this league is very tough.”

Things are looking much better for Chelsea on the whole this season as well, so that certainly all helps.
